Last Saturday, 21st January 2017, saw The Sharp Project in Manchester alive with journalists, engineers, editors and technologists for DroneHack: Journalism. The latest in a series of DroneHack events from the University of Central Lancashire‘s Civic Drone Centre where people of all levels of skill and experience get to learn about drones and their many civilian uses. This DroneHack focused on drone journalism and the journalistic uses of drones beyond the visual (photos and video) providing the participants with a plethora of sensors they could use to create the next generation of drones for journalism.
Held at Manchester’s Sharp Project and jointly hosted by the Civic Drone Centre, Media Innovation Studio, Trinity Mirror and Journalism.co.uk, brought together journalists, engineers, artists and visual storytellers with a single purpose: to innovate UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) in unique ways, and to create new storytelling opportunities. Below is the Storify from those who attended the day detailing all the ins and outs.
